It all began in the medieval period, when the landscape was dominated by <i data-path-to-node=\"2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"166\">&#8216;case da padrone&#8217;<\/i> (manor houses) \u2014 solid stone structures, often featuring a tower \u2014 in stark contrast to the <i data-path-to-node=\"2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"276\">&#8216;case da lavoratore&#8217;<\/i> (workers&#8217; houses), built with poor and modest materials.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"cvGsUA direction-ltr align-justify para-style-body\" style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A true architectural renewal took place between the <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>15th and 16th centuries<\/strong><\/span>. During this period, peasant dwellings began to be built by the same skilled craftsmen who worked in the cities, introducing the systematic use of <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>stone, pebbles, and brick<\/strong><\/span>. According to this vision, the perfect dwelling had to include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"2,2\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2,2,0,0\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2,2,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Comfortable and bright staircases<\/b>, an internal walled courtyard, and a well with healthy water.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2,2,1,0\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2,2,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The upper floors<\/b> were reserved for the family, featuring a large convivial kitchen, numerous bedrooms, and a covered loggia\u2014essential for continuing agricultural work even on rainy days.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"2,2,2,0\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b data-path-to-node=\"2,2,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">An oven<\/b> large enough for at least 12 people, rooms for the loom and tools, spacious stables, a vat room (<i data-path-to-node=\"2,2,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"105\">tinaia<\/i>), a cellar (<i data-path-to-node=\"2,2,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"124\">cigliere<\/i>), and the threshing floor (<i data-path-to-node=\"2,2,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"160\">aia<\/i>) for beating the grain.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; color: #808000;\">There is a story written in the stone and terracotta of the Tuscan farmhouses: it is the tale of a rural civilization that shaped our horizon. Today, those who dwell in these houses are not merely owners, but witnesses.
